Despite our very successful national efforts since about '82 at smoothing out the business cycle, economies growing and shrinking is still a fact of life. As recessions go, it's certainly not bad, not even '91 bad, and certainly not '79 bad. Overall high stocks, low unemployment, low interest rates, and negligible inflation. I think if we had a Clinton in the White House, we'd be told by every media outlet how great the economy has been for the past several years. Instead we get the greatest story never told. All that said, however, wages have not kept pace with prices, especially that of fuel (which of course effects everything). Sadly, there's not that much more tax-cutting or rate-cutting that can be done compared to where we were a while back. If I may not know the cause, but I do know one thing--with the Democrats in charge of congress, the Bush tax cuts (especially those on investments) are going to be allowed expire in 2010, and we're definitely going to see slower-growth repercussions from that.
I'm not super economic savy so it's hard for me to say. Becky and I are in the house market and are taking our time hoping that prices will decline even more. I know that's bad for home owners, but good for buyers like us. Whatever happens with the economy I don't want the government jumping in and trying to "fix" it.
It's doing great. I had a chance to play it loud at a friend's house the other day and was able to dial in that raunchy distortion. It only comes at volumes well above what can be played in our apartment. In fact my friend asked me to turn it down after a few minutes because he was afraid it would rouse the neighbors in the free standing dwelling next to his. That thing really roars when you turn it up! It sounds great clean with the Rick and also plays well with my Digitech RP 2000 pedal board. The final assesment will be this June when we are at camp (or some time before then if you and me, the amp and the Rick all get together in the same place at the same time). I don't think there will need to be any re-working of tone, the hum and hiss however are a bit excessive. Is there anything that might be done about that? I really need to buy a house just so I can play the BJ at maximum tone! Thanks again for setting that up for me.

Oh yeah, about the BJ...
