Timing belt #5 coming right up!

So the Mazda has crossed the 240K barrier. I thought this was cool.

She's still a great car, very reliable. I got 29mpg last week, and that's driving in the LOUSY Atlanta traffic.

My car is old enough to VOTE!

LONG LIVE THE MAZDA!

Okay, okay

Well, Tommy, bless your heart. Don't know why, just haven't felt the pull to blog lately.

I'm still "mostly better." I can't seem to shake the occasional cough. It's been a month now.

I did decide to go back on the Lipitor as a further experiment. The fatigue I was feeling could have been from the virus. Nothing conclusive yet.

I'm working on making 2 guitars. Both will be Tele-shaped. Both will have mahogany bodies. I had planned to put a Bubinga top on one - Bubinga is a South American hardwood, VERY beautiful. But as I was trimming it to shape (about 95% complete) a big piece snapped off. I have no idea how to repair it. I'll set it aside and see if my woodworking skills develop to the point that I CAN repair it.

I have folks at church who have excellent woodworking tools (one runs a cabinet shop). I have some curly maple being prepped for guitar tops (like a Les Paul). I also have an African wood called Makore being prepped for tops also. We'll see what comes of that.

One of the guitars will have a bolt-on neck like a regular Tele. I already have a neck bought from Warmoth to put on it. The other will be a glued-in neck. This will be the first time I actually make the neck. I plan to glue the neck WAY into the body - beyond where the strings pass through the body. Assuming I can pull this off, it should be very cool. The neck blank is laminated, the center being Purpleheart, the outer edges being mahogany. As they get closer to being guitars I'll post some pictures.

Lauren is adjusting to braces. Not much fun there. I think it makes her look just a little bit older.

Lauren and I will be performing at our church on Saturday. We will be at the "Backlot Film Festival" where several folks from Burnt Hickory show 5 minute films they made. We will be one of the live entertainment performances between movies. She is singing "I Don't Regret" by Barlow Girl, and I'm accompanying her on guitar. She'll probably sing this song at PBC also.

That's all for now, I guess. Hope you are all well.
