I'm vying for worst blogger ever
Well, I know a few folks that are even more occasional bloggers than I. Still, I have been quite the slacker in this regard. Do not take this as a statement of intent to blog more frequently. I do a lot more updating on FB than on blogspot. Nonetheless...
End of summer - man, that just doesn't seem right on August 3rd! "Summer" is now only 2 months long, it seems to me. We've had quite a bit going on this summer. PBC in June, all of my family here around July 4th, the Grandparents Tour (Charleston and Jacksonville) later in July. Lots of youth group events and sleep-overs (we call them "wake-overs" since very little sleep actually occurs). Last week Natalie and I even got to go on a date! Woo hoo!
We've had one of the youth group interns living with us - well, occasionally sleeping in our guest room would be a more accurate description. We only shared 2 meals all summer with her! (one of those this past weekend as we took her to our favorite Thai restaurant as a goodbye dinner) Savannah is a very sweet girl and she has been a blessing to our youth. We pray God's blessing on her as she returns to college for her final year.
Changes are in store for the school year. The co-op that the girls have been involved in for the past 2 years is no more. Lauren will attend Cordis this year. We are hopeful that the additional course load and the additional external accoutability will help her grow. We are still looking for more "social" outlets for Rachel. She has VERY MUCH enjoyed the horse riding lessons and "Saddle Club" meetings that she has been able to attend. Perhaps that is a part of what she will enjoy this year as well. We'll see. Horse stuff is PRICEY!
We continue to make progress on our Dave Ramsey financial plan. We are all but out of debt, save for the mortgage. We are building our "emergency funds" and working on our long-term goals as well.
Natalie is such a blessing to me and to our family. I hope that my daughters see how hard she works to show each of us her love for each of us. I love you, babe.
I guess that's enough for now.
