Speed work?
Ugh. I ran the Silver Comet 10K today, to see where I stand for the Cooper River Bridge Run on 4/1. Last Saturday Lee and I did some "speed work" - in other words, sprints. The idea is that running the sprints will help your regular running be faster too.
Well, not so much. I was (am) so sore (even a week later) from that experience that I was hurting this morning, even before the race began. My mile pace was 8:45. I did more than half a minute faster (per mile) when I ran the half-marathon!!! I was hurting the whole way, especially my hamstrings. Not good. Hardly even fun!
Oh, well - at least I learned where I am for now. I won't even discuss setting a goal for the CRBR. Not now. GRRRRR!!!
